BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government is planning to offer a certificate course in Odia in the USA and Canada.
The School and Mass Education Department have planned to offer the course in association with I-Gurukul and Orissa Society of Americans (OSA), said an official.
The government has directed the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) to prepare a curriculum and examination process for the purpose. It will submit a proposal at the earliest, said Mass Education joint secretary Indramani Tripathy.
“The course details have not been finalised yet. We have asked the BSE to submit a detailed proposal to help us finalise the project,” he added.
The course may be of three to six months’ duration. The registered students will get the certificate after passing an examination, sources said.
The certificate will be provided by BSE. It will benefit students from Odisha studying in the USA and Canada.
Several Odias are residing in both the countries for years, and their children get Odia language teaching facility.
