Koraput Admin For Awareness On Competitive Exams

KORAPUT: The Koraput district administration has decided to create awareness on competitive examinations being conducted by the state, Centre and service selection boards from July.

The move of the administration is aimed at providing a better choice to students.

“Students earn their degrees. But they are not able to get jobs because they do not know about competitive examinations. They remain confused and spoil their career for failing to choose the right career,” said district collector Jaya Kumar V.

The administration is all set to conduct special awareness camps at Jeypore, Koraput, Kotpad and Sunabeda at regular intervals. It is to make college students conscious of career options and its related examinations.

“We plan to conduct one camp a month where experts, scientists and administrative officers will speak on their related fields and make students aware of various career options and how to prepare for it,” the collector said.

He said a special cell would be opened at the District Library at Koraput.

The students will be counselled and made aware of various competitive examinations, including civil services, banking and defence. Besides, an adequate number of books and magazines will be kept in the library for the benefit of aspirants.

A database of all students coming to the counselling centre will be prepared and based on their preferences they will be alerted about the date of the competitive examination in which they want to appear, the collector said.

“We plan to equip the library with over 5,000 books related to various competitive examinations. Anyone, including students, can enrol themselves in the library” he added.
