BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider including Cuttack, Sambalpur and Berhampur in the Smart City list.
“While complementing Government of India for taking up the Smart City mission, with Bhubaneswar having topped the Smart City challenge, the people of other cities also aspire to be included in this initiative. I am sure Hon’ble Prime Minister will kindly consider including the historic cities of Cuttack, Sambalpur and Berhampur,” said the Chief Minister.
Patnaik was speaking through video conferencing during the launching of various Smart City projects of the flagship Smart City Mission by Narendra Modi at a function in Pune.
The Chief Minister said the state government would continue its efforts to transform Bhubaneswar into a vibrant city.
“Meticulous planning and large scale investment by the state has resulted in overall improvement in infrastructure and living conditions. This strategy has got international recognition by bagging the urban planning award from the Canada Institute of Planners,” said Patnaik.
