Union Minister’s Convoy Attack: DGP Assures Action Against Police Officials


BHUBANESWAR: Reacting to the attack on Union Minister’s convoy in Bargarh, Director General of Police KB Singh on Saturday said action would be taken against the police officials for dereliction of duty.

Singh said a DIG has been assigned to probe into the incident.

Notably, some BJD workers alleged attacked and damaged the vehicle of Union Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar, who was going with Food Processing Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti to attend BJP’s Vikash Ustav on Friday.

Intervening in the matter, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also advised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take appropriate action and prevent any such untoward incident in future.

Meanwhile, BJD spokesman Samir Dash said the state government is aware of security provisions for Union Ministers. He pointed out that the government has already initiated action against the involved persons.
