BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government is contemplating to introduce a new health insurance scheme for the drivers in the state.
The health insurance scheme would be named ‘Biju Gadi Chalak Bima Yojana’, said sources in the Commerce and Transports Department.
The health insurance scheme would cover death and medical treatment in the event of the road accident.
“The scheme is in the pipeline. No concrete decision has been taken so far. We have to work on several aspects including the premium,” said the sources.
Besides, there is the need to talk with the health insurance providing companies, sources added.
The drivers including those of trucks and auto rickshaws in the state would benefit from the scheme.
