Odisha Implements Adarsha Vidyalaya Yojana


BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Tuesday issued a resolution for the implementation of the scheme ‘Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Yojana’ in the state for establishment of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (model school).

The state government would set up model schools in all 314 blocks.

” In order to provide qualitative teaching in English Medium at the Secondary level for children specifically in semi-urban or rural areas and to give scope to rural talents who are unable to afford English medium education the Government have decided to establish Model Schools in the name of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya,” said the resolution.

The resolution issued by School and Mass Education department said  Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya would be established in each 314 block headquarters of the state.

“These schools will have the infrastructure and facilities as in Kendriya Vidyalayas. These schools will be affiliated to CBSE, and the classes will be from Class-VI to Class-XII having two sections with 40 students in each section of the class,” it added.

These schools will be the centre of excellence.

The school will function with facilities of Biology Lab, Chemistry Lab, Physics Lab, Math Lab, Art & Music Room, NCC Room, ICT Lab, Library, etc.

“The pupil-teacher ratio will be maintained at 25:1 and there will be 50% reservation for girls. Besides, there shall be reservation for SC/ST students as per percentage of SC/ST population in the blocks,” said the resolution.

The CBSE syllabus will be adopted as the medium of instruction as English. Odia will be the Second Language, it added.

In order to have a homogeneous approach to improving the teaching pattern and to achieve the objective of excellence, there shall be inter-school and intra-school competition among students and also teachers’ training/orientation programmes on a regular basis.
