Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday approved the student traffic volunteer scheme facilitating college and university students to earn some quick bucks by working for the traffic police part-time.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the student traffic volunteer scheme. It would address the shortage manpower to manage the growing traffic in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Besides, it would provide employment opportunity to the students, said a release.
A student can work for maximum three-hour to manage the traffic system in the two cities, the release added.
According to Commissionerate Police sources, each student will be paid Rs 100 daily for assisting the police personnel in regulating traffic for three hours.
However, the students will not have the power to impose a fine on violators.
