Bhubaneswar: After bringing an ordinance to implement the Odisha Official Language Act, 1954, the Odisha cabinet on Friday approved the rules for the implementation of the Act in the state.
The Act will be implemented from Friday as the state government has decided to bring a notification in this regard.
The government would form a committee headed by Chief Secretary to monitor the implementation of the Act in the state. The members of the committee are Information and Public Relations Secretary, School and Mass Education Secretary, Higher Education Secretary, Culture Secretary and General Administration Special Secretary.
The committee will meet in every six months to monitor the implementation of the Act.
Besides, a division has been constituted under a joint secretary of General Administration Department to oversee the day to day activities of the different department about the execution of Odisha Official Language Act, 1954.
