Casting Couch: Sarmistha Files Defamation Suit Against Producer Bini Samal

Bhubaneswar: Odia actress Sarmistha Priyadarshini has filed a Rs five crore defamation suit against casting couch accused producer Bini Samal in Bhubaneswar civil court (senior division) here.

The actress alleged that the producer had tarnished her image during a panel discussion in a television channel.

Actress Sarmistha also filed a criminal case against the film producer in SDJM court, Bhubaneswar.

Notably,  Sarmistha had filed casting couch case against six persons. She alleged that the accused sought sexual favours from her in lieu of giving her work in the film industry.

She had named Directors Chandi Parija and Tapas Sargariha, producers Bini Samal, Nihar Samal and Subrat Nayak and event manager Bapi Jena in the FIR registered with the Mahila Police Station.

Meanwhile, the accused have managed to get anticipatory bail from Orissa High Court.
