Bhubaneswar: While Reliance Jio free services offer has led to a massive rush at Reliance Digital and other telecom stores, the outlets of Reliance Communications have a harrowing time to deal with the customers.
The confused customers are thronging to the outlets of Reliance Communications to get Jio SIMs, while it is available at Reliance Digital and Reliance Mini Express outlets.
People are a little bit confused over the brand. They don’t understand that Reliance Communications and Reliance Jio are two different companies. So, they are coming to these outlets to get Jio SIM. – An employee of Reliance Communications store in Bhubaneswar.
While Reliance Telecommunications is controlled by Anil Ambani, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani introduced Jio 4G services in India.
Getting a SIM for JIO is not easy even with proper documents
The Reliance Jio ‘Free Welcome Offer’ was launched on 6 September for free services till December 31.
However, there was a mad rush to get a Jio SIM in several parts of Odisha, thanks to the hype created by the company.
As long queues were seen at the outlets, customers were given slips with their application number written on them, and the Reliance Digital stores are issuing new SIM cards only by prior appointment.
I have to stand in a queue for almost three-hour to get a Jio SIM. They are also releasing only limited number of SIMs. – Rajiv Sahu, an IT professional.
People are queuing up outside Reliance Digital stores from around 8 am, two hours before opening, only to get an appointment, added Rajiv.
