Celebrations Begin After Rourkela Gets Smart City Tag

Rourkela: People are elated in Rourkela after the steel city figured in the list of Smart City on Tuesday.

Rourkela is among 27 cities of the country, which were declared to  get the tag of ‘Smart City’ by the union government.

The cheerful mood was noticed among various cross sections of the public of the Rourkela city. Celebrations kicked off at different squares of the city by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

I on behalf of Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) and district administration congratulate the people of Rourkela on this historic moment – A.K. Mallick, RMC Commissioner.

I must acknowledge the support from different quarters,  which made  this possible – A.K. Mallick.

Mallick also hoped that the smart city tag for the city would soon be reflected as a host of projects would be coming up in the city to upgrade the quality of life of people.

As a part of the smart city project, we have already identified five major areas of the city, between Bisra Chowk to Panposh, which would be developed as model areas – A.K. Mallick.

Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray expressed his happiness over the announcement.
