Bhubaneswar: At least five persons were killed and eight others injured in three separate road accidents in Odisha on Saturday.
The incidents occurred in Balasore, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur districts, police said.
One person was killed on the spot while two were injured near Patharkumbh Chhak of Muktapasi coming under Kamakshyanagar police station of Dhenkanal district.
The deceased and two others including a minor were going on a motorbike, which hit a mango tree after skidding off NH-200, said police.
The injured persons have been admitted to nearby hospital.
The bike bears a West Bengal number. The deceased is yet to be identified, said police.
In another incident, two persons were killed on the spot and six injured near Jamjhadi in Balasore district on NH-5 when the jeep in which they were traveling hit a stationary truck parked on the roadside this morning, they said.
Four of the injured persons were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack while two others were undergoing treatment at nearby Bhadrakh hospital.
In another mishap near Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district, a man, and his son-in-law were killed after the bike they were riding was hit by a truck near Hatitanki this morning, police said.
