Naveen Seeks Jaitley’s Presence At Make In Odisha Conclave


New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday invited Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to attend Make in Odisha conclave scheduled to be held at Bhubaneswar on November 30-December 2.

Holding a meeting at the residence of Jaitley in New Delhi, the Chief Minister requested him to grace the event on December 1.

The state government has planned to organize Make in Odisha conclave in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP).

The state government would try to attract investment to Odisha by showcasing the policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and manufacturing prowess of the state.

Patnaik also requested to release the Central Sales Tax (CST) compensation from 2012-13 till current fiscal.

The Chief minister drew the attention of Jaitley to the issue of compensation for loss of revenue due to the reduction of CST rate from 4% to 2% to states as recommended by the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers meeting held in Bhubaneswar in 2013.

Besides, he sought Rs 566 crore compensation from Centre towards cancellation of the Talabira-I Coal block in the State.

The Chief Minister also demanded the state’s share in Clean Energy cess from the Centre.
