Odisha Govt Hikes Bus Fares For Sixth Time


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday effected a hike in bus fares following the increase of diesel price across the country.

The Commerce and Transport department increased fares for all categories of passenger buses as per the automatic fare adjustment mechanism. The government increased the bus fares for the sixth time this year.

The fares for Ordinary and Express buses have been hiked by 1 paisa per kilometer, while fares for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses have been hiked by 2 paise per kilometer, said a notification.

The fare for Ordinary buses will now be 60 paise per km while the fare for Express buses will be 63 paise per km. While the fare of deluxe category buses has been increased to 84 paise per km AC Deluxe buses will charge Rs 1.05, the notification said.
