Bolangir: The interest of Odisha has been neglected by the Centre even as the BJD government is striving hard and taking measures for development of the poor people and women to ensure the all-round growth of the state, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday.
Addressing a gathering in Bolangir, the Chief Minister NaveenPattnaik said the state government is always with the people of Odisha.
The construction of barrages by Chhattisgarh government over Mahanadi river, which is the lifeline of Odisha, would affect millions of people in Odisha .While Chhattisgarh government has acted against the interest of people of Odisha, the Center has also overlooked the interest of the state, said Pattnaik.
Belpada should be declared as NAC and the Upparlanth irrigation project should be implemented early to ensure better irrigation facility for farmers, demanded Bolangir MP Kalikesh Singhdeo while speaking on this occasion.
Among others, Minister Snehangini Chhuria, BJD MP AU Singhdeo, BJD leader Surya Patra and several other leaders highlighted the effort of BJD government for development of this region and Odisha.
Around 50 BJP and Congress activists were detained as preventive measures, said Balangir SP Ashish Singh.
