Lulu Mohapatra’s Last Rites To Be Performed In Brahmagiri

Bhubaneswar: The cremation of the departed firebrand Congress leader Lulu Mohapatra would be solemnised at his village in Brahmagiri of Puri district on Tuesday.

The remains of Mohapatra would be brought on a special flight from New Delhi to the Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Monday. He would be taken straight to his residence here where the Congress leaders and his well-wishers would pay the last respect and take the final glimpse of the departed leader.

His funeral procession would start on Tuesday, said sources.

Congress party sources said his body would be first taken to the Congress Bhawan here on Tuesday, then to the Odisha Assembly premises and later proceed to Puri before his mortal remains are consigned to the flames at his native village Gada Rodanga under Brahmagiri assembly constituency.

Mohapatra, who was admitted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon, after he sustained a brain stroke with multi-organ failure, passed away Monday night. He was 52. His body was shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi.
