Jharsuguda Airport To Be Completed By May 2018

Bhubaneswar: The development of Odisha’s Jharsuguda airport would be completed by May 2018.

“The construction of Jharsuguda airport would be completed by May 2018 instead of December 2018. About Rs 210 crore would be invested for the development of the airport,” said Airport Authority of India (AAI) chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra.

The development of Jharsguda airport was discussed at a high-level meeting under the chairmanship of chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here. The meeting was attended by several other officials of AAI and state government.

Informing that Jharsuguda has good potential for regional as well as intra-nation air connectivity, Mohapatra said AAI would take all possible steps to develop it to a viable and vibrant airport.

Jharsuguda district collector Bibhuti Pattnaik informed that tender has been issued for construction of the road to the airport.

The collector also said that the remaining matters with regard to balance land acquisition would be over after crop cutting by the farmers.
