Odisha attracts Rs 700 cr foreign investment


Bhubaneswar: The Make in Odisha conclave attracted foreign investment proposals of Rs 700 crore, said Industry minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

“We have received proposals from two foreign companies,” said Mishra.

Indo European Sustainable Development (IESD) from Italy has proposed us to set up a food and fruit processing park with an initial investment of Rs 250 crore. It has proposed to process rice in Kalahandi and turmeric in Kandhamal districts.

Fortunex, Bangladesh’s leading manufacturer and exporter, has evinced interest to expand its business in apparel sector in the eastern region of the country.

“They (Fortunex) are expanding operations worldwide. The company has proposed to set up a plant at Ramdaspur near Cuttack. Initially it has committed to invest Rs 450 crore”, the minister stated.

“Though the amount is less but the employment potential is close to 4000” said the minister.
