1.38 lakh post lying vacant in various departments of Odisha govt

Bhubaneswar: As many as 1.38 lakh posts are lying vacant in various government departments, finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat informed the Assembly on Monday.

According to the minister. there are 5,65,029 sanctioned posts in various departments out of which 1,38,355 are vacant .The highest number (76,147) of posts lying vacant is in group C while 6513 posts are vacant in group A.

Besides 20,920 group Band 22,347 group D posts are also vacant, said Amat.

He said that of the 5.65 lakh sanctioned posts, 41,635 posts have been abolished by the government due to various financial constraints.

Department wise, it is school and mass education department which top the list with 35,773 vacancies including 225 group A posts. The home department is second with 16,386 vacancies which include 487 group A and 10,720 other group posts.

Health and family department has 12,603 vacancies. The department tops the chart in terms of top cadre vacancies as it has 2144 group A posts vacant. The revenue department also has 9,790 posts lying vacant.

On the other hand, the Odisha Legislative Assembly also has 279 posts vacant including 23 group A, 115 group B and 78 in group C. Grievance and pension administration is the only department which has single-digit vacancies with only 9 posts vacant.
