Rishi murder case: Family members lodge fresh complaint


Bhubaneswar: A day after seeking to reopen of Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi’s death case, the family of the slain on Sunday filed a fresh complaint with the Khandagiri Police here urging to bring his friends under the purview of investigation.

They urged the police to probe the murder angle of Rishi.

“We have filed an additional complaint in regards to the mysterious death of Rishi and have urged the investigating officers to speed up the investigation. We have also requested the police to bring his friends and close acquaintance under the purview of investigation to unearth the murder case,” said Rishi’s mother after meeting the Khandagiri police.

After the controversial sex video surfaced, in which BMC Mayor Ananta Jena is allegedly seen sharing the bed with a woman, the family suspects that Rishi may have been murdered.

Notably, NSUI state president Itish Pradhan had alleged that the sex video has links with Rishi’s murder.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police constituted a special team headed by an ACP rank officer to investigate the mysterious death of the engineering student.

Nearly after 8 months, the police have sent the viscera of the deceased to the forensic lab.

“A special team headed by ACP (Zone-III) Tapan Patnaik has been constituted. His friends, close acquaintance including his girl friend and roommates will be summoned for interrogation,” said DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
