Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved 14 proposals including construction of lift irrigation projects in several districts.
The state government would spend Rs 1800 crore for the lift irrigation projects.
While 16 mega lift irrigation projects have been granted for Jharsuguda district, 12 projects have been granted for Sundargarh district, informed chief secretary AP Padhi.
Besides, 12 irrigation projects have been granted for Nuapada and Kalahandi districts and 14 for Ganjam district.
The cabinet also approved an amendment to the Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana.
As per the amendment, the existing Rs 50 lakh per block has been hiked to Rs 1.5 crore in the tribal area and Rs 1 crore in the non-tribal area.
The government also raised the upper age limit of the Ayush medical college professors to 40 from 32.
Besides, their experience for promotion has been slashed down to 5 years from 8 years.
