Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday executed an agreement with CARE Hospitals for the establishment of a super specialty cardiac care hospital in Jharsuguda.
The hospital in Jharsuguda will be a 100 bedded hospital that will provide all supporting clinical specializations and disciplines necessary for cardiac care.
“Cardiovascular diseases are emerging as one of the biggest health risks and this project will specifically address such challenges. This facility will be the first of its kind in western Odisha with 50 percent of its bed capacity earmarked for providing free treatment to poor patients,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
With this project taking shape, the people of the area, particularly economically weaker sections would not have to travel far to access specialized cardiac care services, he added.
The project is a unique public-private partnership arrangement whereby the state government with the support of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited is bearing the capital expenditure of Rs. 75 crore for the hospital.
It would be operated, maintained and managed by CARE Hospitals.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a hospital of Care Hospital at Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
