Odisha govt seeks public suggestions for 2017-18 Budget preparation

Bhubaneswar: Like the previous year, the Odisha government has sought the suggestions of people for the preparation of Budget for 2017-18 financial year.

The finance department has invited suggestions in a structured format to be used as an input in the process of preparation of annual Budget 2017-18.

“Members of the public, Civil Society Organisation, Advocacy Groups and other stakeholders are requested to make use of this unique opportunity to participate in the budget making the process of the State Government,” said a release.

The suggestions can be sent by e-mail to the address odisha.budget@gov.in. Similarly, suggestions for Budget are also invited through Whatsapp, Telegram, and SMS to the Mobile number (+91)9438161111.

This facility will be available for a fortnight beginning from 1st January 2017.

Notably, the finance department has been holding Pre-Budget consultation with a cross section of the society. During the previous financial year, in order to make the budgetary process more open and participative using Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the department had initiated the process of obtaining inputs for preparation of Annual Budget, 2016-17 through a separate web-portal budget.odisha.gov.in, through e-mail and SMS.

The portal displays all budget-related documents.
