Seashore chit fund scam: BJD MP Rabindra Jena moves High Court

Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Balasore MP Rabindra Jena on Friday moved Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the Seashore Group chit fund scam.

Jena sought the protection from the court a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided his houses and offices at several locations including in Balasore and New Delhi.

CBI had summoned the BJD MP to appear before it on January 12. However, he did not turn up to the CBI office here citing unavoidable reasons.

Meanwhile, a meeting between the central probe agency’s SP Rajeev Ranjan and Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh was held at the camp office here. However, both the officials did not reveal about what transpired in the meeting.

“I did not discuss anything with Singh. It was only a courtesy visit to the DGP post New Year,” the CBI SP told media persons here.

The CBI SP further emphatically stated, “We are not under any kind of pressure. The CBI is probing independently.”
