Bhubaneswar (Odisha): Odisha Police on Sunday ruled out the involvement of Maoists in the derailment of the Hirakhand Express, in which 36 persons were killed while over 50 injured.
“There is no evidence so far regarding the involvement of Maoists in the Hirakhand Express train derailment. We will inquire into the matter and Railway Safety Commissioner will also probe into the matter,” Odisha DGP K B Singh told reporters here.
The statement of the DGP came when the railway officials are suspecting of sabotage behind the tragic incident.
The Hirakhand Express derailed near Kuneru in Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night.
