SFIO to probe AT chit fund scam in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A local court here on Wednesday directed the serious fraud investigation office (SFIO) to probe the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chit fund scam in Odisha.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is presently investigating into the scam following the direction of Supreme Court.

CBI sources said AT chief Pradeep Sethy, the firm’s three directors, and a Mumbai-based stock broker will be interrogated by the SFIO in the first phase.

Sethy has been in jail since May 2013 after he was arrested by the state police for duping thousands of investors in the state by floating various fraudulent schemes.

CBI has estimated that AT Group had duped thousands of gullible depositors of around Rs 1,200 crore.
