Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received Rs 5102 crore in the railway sector for the 2017-18 financial year.
Finance Minister of India Arun Jaitley on Wednesday presented the Union Budget in the Parliament for the financial year 2017-18. The budget included the railway budget this year.
According to the East Coast Railways (ECoR), Odisha has received Rs 5102 crore against Rs 4682 crore allocation in 2016-17.
Earlier, the Odisha government had requested the center to grant Rs 5870 crore package in the Budget 2017-18 for increasing railway connectivity in the state.
The package of Rs 5870 crore includes detailed proposals for the ongoing projects, sanctioning of new lines, station modernization, the introduction of new trains, the extension of existing trains, improved passenger amenities at stations, on board services, the establishment of rail-based industries, multi-modal logistics parks etc.
