Bhubaneswar: India registered a splendid victory over New Zealand in the 2nd T20 World Cup Cricket for Blind here on Tuesday.
Two half centuries by Indian team captain Ajay Kumar Reddy and Sukhram Majhi propelled the team to register the spectacular victory. India defeated New Zealand by 9 wickets and became the first team to enter into the Semi-final of the tourney.
For India, two players from Odisha Sukhram Majhi and Iqbal Jafar opened the innings. However, Jafar was bowled out by MLK McCaskill only for two runs. But, Sukhram and Ajay Kumar Reddy scored 56 and 75 runs respectively and helped India to win in just 9 over.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. With his brilliant knock of 52 runs off 51 balls, BD Wilson helped New Zealand to score 136 in 20 over by losing 6 wickets. However, the half century went in vein.
While Sukhram was declared the man of the match for his all-round performance, each player was awarded a trophy by the dignitaries.
This is the seventh win out of eight matches for India.
