Cuttack: The concluding day of Odissi Music Festival featured artistes of repute like Satyyanarayan Sahoo,Tapaswini Dagar, Ashirbachan Mohapatra, Guru Keshab Chandra Rout and Prafulla Mangal.
Organized by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre under the aegis of Department of Culture the festival had taken a great stride to popularize the Odissi Musical tradition of Odisha and to encourage the talents in this discipline.
The first programme of the concluding session was Solo Odissi vocal by Satyanaryan Sahoo from Hinjilikatu followed by Odissi rendering by Tapaswini Dagara from Pipili.
Next item was Odissi vocal by Ashirbachan Mohapatra from Nayagarh followed by another bit of Odissi by renowned Guru Keshab Chandra Rout.
His remarkable euphony and variegated graceful embellishment punctuated by indigenous rhythmic patterns. The concluding item of the concluding evening was Solo Odissi Vocal by Prafulla Mangal from Rourkela.
The music lovers present were deeply engrossed by the superb and impeccable elaboration of different Rags and musical patterns, clear tonal quality and musical renderings by the artistes. Their presentation was highly applauded for it was intellectually satisfying and emotionally appealing.
The dignitaries who graced the concluding evening were A. Maheswar Rao, Former Deputy Director (Prog.) Doordarshan, Bhubaneswar; Prasanjit Mohanty, Former Deputy Director, All India Radio, Cuttack and Dr. Sangita Gosain, Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre. The programme was anchored by Basanta Mohanty.
