T20 Blind World Cup: India defeat Pakistan to clinch world title


Bangalore: India successfully defended their title in the T20 Blind World Cup by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final by nine wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday.

Incidentally, India had defeated Pakistan in the previous and only edition of the T20 World Cup for the visually impaired to clinch the  world cup title.

Chasing a target of 198, India played brilliantly as the openers Ajay Kumar Reddy and Prakasha Jayaramaiah gave India a commanding start and never let go of the momentum that was created early on.

India put 110 runs before their first wicket fell. Reddy (43) was caught short by Israr Hassan. Prakasha Jayaramaiah kept scoring aggressively giving the win to India. Jayaramaiah scored 99 runs, the highest in the match.

India won the match in the 18th over.

Pakistan Captain Muhammad Jamil had won the toss and decided to bat first. They put together 197/9 on the scoreboard.

In India’s bowling department, Ketan Patel and Jaffar Iqbal took two wickets each.
