Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Lancers will take on Dabang Mumbai in the final match of Hockey India League (HIL) to be held in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Kalinga Lancers have entered the final for the second time in a row.
Mumbai and Lancers entered the finals of the fifth edition HIL by winning their respective semi-finals against Delhi Waveriders and Uttar Pradesh Wizards at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh on Saturday.
This time, Lancers will try hard to clinch the title by defeating Dabang Mumbai. On the other hand, Mumbai, who continued their dominance throughout the tournament, will leave no stone unturned to defeat the rival team.
Table toppers Dabang Mumbai, led by their skipper Florian Fuchs, had rode on a 26th-minute field goal by Dutch import Robbert Kemperman to beat Delhi Waveriders 2-0 and set up a summit clash with the Lancers in the finals on Sunday.
Lancers had defeated Uttar Pradesh Wizards via a penalty shootout after both teams were locked 4-4 as the match went down to the wire. It was only in the sudden death that Lancers won 4-3.
