Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Bishnu Charan Das, who has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Odisha Planning Board, on Sunday said that he would resign from the membership of Rajya Sabha very soon.
“A person can’t hold two constitutional posts at a time. Hence, I will go to New Delhi very soon and consult with Rajya Sabha Vice Chairman regarding my resignation,” said Das.
The state government on Saturday appointed Das as the Vice Chairman of the Odisha Planning Board. The post was lying vacant since the exit of N Bhaskar Rao last year following his election to the Rajya Sabha.
Bishnu, who was the member of the Rajya Sabha since July 2016, was also appointed as the BJD Dalit cell convener.
