Security beefed up for PM’s visit to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha to attend the BJP national executive meeting, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Bhubaneswar, where the executive meeting will be held on April 15 and 16.

Police DG KB Singh said 100 platoons of police and two companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be deployed across the city.

Apart from this, four IG rank officers will be in-charge of the five sectors in which Bhubaneswar has been divided for security reasons.

“The city airport, hotels, the Governor’s House where the Prime Minister will be staying and the venue Janta Maidan, where the meeting will be held, have been categorized as different sectors. Besides, one IG rank officer will be taking care of the Prime Minister’s route lining,” said Singh.

Special Protection Group (SPG) officers will also provide support to the four IG rank officers to provide security cover to the Prime Minister. IG of SPG Yeswant Kumar Jethwa is monitoring the PM’s security arrangement.
