Nandankanan to bring two giraffes

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan zoo authority has decided to bring two giraffes from Mysore under the animal exchange program.

Nandankanan will have to give two tigers to Mysore zoo to get the long-necked animals.

Presently, Nandankanan has one giraffe ‘Khusi’.

In 2008, a giraffe had died when overhead electric wires hit his neck while being transported from Alipore zoo to the Nandankanan sanctuary. Later, another one was brought from the same zoo in March last year in exchange of two tigers. However, the animal died only after five days of arrival.
