Bhubaneswar: Sulochana Das, who resigned as the spokesperson and general secretary of Odisha Congress, on Tuesday joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in presence of party president Naveen Patnaik here.
“I will discharge the responsibilities to be assigned by the party”, Das said.
Naveen Patnaik said her joining would strengthen the party.
Meanwhile, BJD vice president Damodar Rout remarked sarcastically on Das’ joining.
“She had been criticising the BJD saying that it has done nothing for the State in last 17 years of rule. She also burnt my effigy several times in front of the Congress Bhawan alleging that I don’t respect women. Now, she felt that BJD is safe and joined it”, Rout added.
