Five Odia athletes to participate in 22nd Asian Athletics Championships-2017


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday congratulated five Odia athletes, who will participate in the forthcoming 22nd Asian Athletics Championships-2017 slated to be held from July 5 in Bhubaneswar.

The Odia athletes have been included in the 95-member Indian Team announced by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) on Wednesday.

The list includes ace Odia athletes Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, Amiya Malik, Jauna Murmu and Purnima Hembram.

Malik will represent the country in 100, 200 and 4X100 categories of the running race. Similarly, both Dutee and Srabani will run in the 100, 200 and 4X100 metres event.

Hembram will take part in the Heptathlon while Murmu will run in the 400m Hurdles category. The sporting event will be held at Kalinga Stadium from July 6th to 9th 2017.
