Chini bags best feature film at 28th Odisha State Film Awards


Bhubaneswar: Odia movie Chini has been adjudged as best feature film at the 28th Odisha State Film Awards announced by the Culture Department here on Monday.

The film will get the prestigious Mohan Sundar Dev Goswami Samman in the best film category.

The 28th Odisha State Film Awards, to be conferred by the Department of Culture of the Government of Odisha, were announced today.

Veteran singer Pranab Patnaik will receive the prestigious Jayadev Puraskar, lifetime achievement award for contribution to the Odia film industry.

“It is due to the blessings of people of Odisha that I have been selected for the award. I am grateful the jury members for nominating me for the prestigious Jayadev Award,” said Pattnaik.

Ajay Rath will be conferred with best director award for the movie ‘Namard’ while Samaresh Routray has won the best actor award for ‘Namard’ and Lipi has bagged the best actress award for the movie ‘Mimansa’.

The awards have been announced for a total of 27 categories.

Tarang Cine Productions’ Tu Kahibu Na Mu’ has won awards in three categories. Goodly Rath will get the award for best music director, Sashak has been adjudged playback singer award for the movie.

Worth mentioning, the awards, initiated in 1968, are decided by independent juries formed by the Department of Culture. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film fraternity, academician, journalist and public servants.
