10854.74 ha crops damaged due to unseasonal rain in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday said that an area of 10854.74 hectares of crops in three districts have been affected by unseasonal rain in the state.

Over 10854 hectares of crops have been damaged in 850 villages under 155 gram panchayats of 9 blocks in three districts due to unseasonal rain caused by cyclonic depression occurred during December 9-10. The districts are Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Puri, said a report of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).

As per the field verification received from the district collectors, the areas have sustained crop loss of 33% and above.

The state government has directed the collectors to undertake relief measures in the affected areas.
