Damodar Rout removed as BJD vice president, Dhenkanal observer


Bhubaneswar: After dismissing Damodar Rout from the council of ministers, Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik on Saturday sacked Rout from the post of vice-president of the party.

“The president Biju Janata Dal, Sri Naveen Patnaik has been pleased to relieve Dr Damodar Rout from the post of vice president,” said a statement from BJD.

The BJD president also removed Damodar Rout from the post of the observer of Dhenkanal district with immediate effect.

Notably, the Chief Minister had sacked Damodar Rout from the council of ministers for his casteist remarks on Friday.
