BJD stages cart rally against hike in petrol, diesel prices

Bhubaneswar: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday took out a cart rally in Bhubaneswar protesting against the increase in petrol and diesel prices by the Union government.

The members of students and youth wing of BJD staged the protest in a noble manner by organising cart rally.

The price of petrol is now Rs 70.24 per litre and diesel is Rs 64 plus in the capital city.

“While the price of crude oil has decreased globally, there is no justification for increasing petrol and diesel prices. The Union Government has betrayed common people to favour industrialists,” alleged BJD MLA Sanjay Dasburma.

Nayagarh MLA Arun Sahu said his party would continue staging demonstration against the Narendra Modi Government to press for decreasing prices of petrol and diesel.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the petroleum products should come under the Goods and Service Tax (GST) ambit.
