Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday suspended its Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda from the primary membership of the party.
Baijayant Panda was suspended from BJD following the approval of BJD president Naveen Patnaik, said senior BJD leader Suryanarayan Patro.
Panda was suspended for anti-party activities, Patro added.
Notably, Baijayant Panda was in the eye of the storm after he attacked the bureaucrats at the Chief Minister’s Office for interfering into BJD politics. BJD leaders and workers had submitted several memorandums against Panda to Naveen Patnaik recently.
BJD’s Kendrapara observer Pramila Mallick and Cuttack observer Usha Devi had submitted two separate inquiry reports over the allegations made by the party workers in Panda’s parliamentary constituency.
Meanwhile, Baijayant Panda reacting to the suspension said that he was shocked over the development and denied the allegations levelled against him.
