Notorious Criminal Buchi Patra, two others held in Ganjam police encounter

Bhubaneswar: In another encounter by Ganjam police, a hardcore criminal was critically injured and nabbed along with his two aides early Tuesday morning.

The encounter took place Kakudia forests in Mathura village under Polsara tehsil of Ganjam district on Tuesday.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 6.10 am this morning when an exchange of fire took place between Polsara police and Buchi Patra and his associates.

A team of police was following the miscreants near Mathura Kakudia jungle to nab them when the latter fired at cops for an escape. The police soon fired back, injuring Buchi Patra, a hardcore criminal against whom as many as 30 cases are pending in various police stations in Ganjam district, said Ganjam SP Asish Singh.

The police too arrested Buchi’s two associates, identified as Ajit Nayak and Akshay Nayak. A mouser, two live bullets and two bikes were seized from them.

Buchi received bullet injuries in his legs and has been admitted in the Polsara Government hospital, added the SP.
