Bijepur by-poll: Padmapur SDPO transferred

Bhubaneswar: Padampur Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Laxmi Narayan Panda has been transferred to the IG Office as per the directive of the Chief Electoral Officer, DG of Police R.P. Sharma informed on Thursday morning here.

According to sources, Khirasagar Nayak will take up the charge of Padampur SDPO, who was earlier the Government Railway Police (GRP) DSP in Jharsuguda.

Notably, BJP had alleged before the Chief Electoral Officer that Padmapur SDPO is favouring the ruling BJD in the run-up to the Bijepur by-poll.

Meanwhile, BJP delegation comprising Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Basant Panda and KV Singh Deo met Bargarh district Collector, SP and Poll Observer and requested free and fair poll for the Bijepur assembly constituency.
