Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has asked the Khurda district administration to identify a suitable 50-acre land for setting up Odia University.
The General Administration (GA) Department has asked Khurda Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra to identify a patch of a-50 acre land for the Odia University.
Now, the university will temporarily function from Toshali Bhavan at Satya Nagar till the Higher Education Department sets up a permanent campus.
The Higher Education Department has requested the GA Department to ensure basic infrastructure facilities at Toshali Bhavan for the functioning of the university.
The government has set a target to start the first session from the next academic session.
In November last year, the state government had passed the Odia University Act, 2017 in the State Assembly. The proposed act envisages a world-class university to facilitate study and research in Odia language at the postgraduate level.
It would also facilitate research on specific areas of the language.
