Cargo operation affected at Paradip Port as stevedore workers begin dharna

Bhubaneswar: Cargo operation has been severely hit in the Paradip Port as stevedore workers have started a dharna in the port premises since Friday morning.

Hundreds of stevedore workers belonging to different companies have stopped working in protest against the dismissal of many workers illegally.

Due to the dharna, loading and other works at the port have been severely hit, according to reports.

The staff and drivers led by the leaders were earlier staging agitation demanding an eight-hour duty. However, the leaders were intentionally transferred by the higher authorities, they alleged.
