13 gamblers arrested in Cuttack

Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Monday raided a gambling den operating at Gandhipalli on Mahanadi riverbed in Odisha’s Cuttack and nabbed 13 gamblers.

Police also seized Rs 15,000 cash, eight mobile phones and five bikes from their possessions, sources said.

Acting on a tipoff, a team of police officials raided the place at Gandhipalli on Mahanadi riverbed. Spotting police officials, the gamblers got furious and tried to attack them forcing the police to resort to blank firing in a bid to nab them.

Later, the police managed to nab 13 gamblers.

Sources said the gambling unit had been operating in the area for the past few months.
