Third front: KCR to meet Naveen in May first week


Bhubaneswar: Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) will meet his counterpart and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik in the first week of May.

KCR will first visit the world famous Jagannath temple in Puri and then call on Odisha Chief Minister, said sources.

Though there is no formal political agenda, both leaders are likely to discuss the current political situation and scope the on formation of an alternative front.

However, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik rejected the talks that they would discuss on possible third front.

Patnaik said there will be no political discussion when he will meet Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao in May first week.

KCR will have a courtesy call when he will visit Odisha to offer prayer at Jagannath Temple in Puri, he added.

The meeting of two leaders assumes significant ahead of the 2019 general elections as their respective parties have been maintaining equal distance from the BJP as well as Congress.

Notably, KCR had met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata last month to discuss about a broad alliance ahead of 2019 polls.
