Minor girl abducted, raped for rejecting love proposals of a youth

Balasore: A minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth after she rejected his love proposals in Odisha’s Balasore district, said police on Sunday.

The incident came to light after the parents of the victim lodged a complaint at Soro police station on Saturday.

According to reports, the youth identified as Anup Behera of Simulia area in the district had proposed the minor girl which the latter had rejected.

Perturbed over the rejection, the youth on April 27 allegedly abducted the girl and raped her. Later, he fled the spot after committing the crime.

Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

“Based on the allegation of a minor girl’s parents, we have registered a case. Efforts are on to nab the accused who went missing soon after committing the crime,” informed Dilip Das, Inspector-In-Charge of Soro police station.
