Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced Rs 100-crore package for development of cut off areas in Malkangiri district.
The Chief Minister made the announcement after inaugurating the much-needed 910-metre Gurupriya bridge, which will connect 151 villages in the cut-off area across Balimela reservoir with the mainland of Malkangiri district.
Patnaik also renamed ‘Bicchinanchala’ (cut off areas) of the district as ‘Swabhiman Anchala’.
He said the package will help accelerate the development process not only in Swabhiman Anchala but also in the entire district.
Under the package, over five crore fishlings will be released into the Chitrakonda reservoir to improve livelihoods of around 2000 fishermen.
Road projects will be taken up to improve communication between Jodaamba and Panasput panchayats.
Besides, a 33/11 KV power sub-station will be constructed at Badapatha.
The government will also put up 100 borewells, four piped drinking water supply projects, a bridge and other projects in the area.
