Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday flagged off mobile LED Vans from Indian Oil Office here.
These mobile LED Vans will move into the interiors of Odisha to disseminate awareness about PMUY and safe practices of usage of LPG in a unique way.
Pradhan described this as a unique way of propagating awareness among the audience through entertainment.
The specially designed vehicles will work as a mobile theatre. These mobile LED Vans will spread awareness about the safe practices of using domestic LPG as well act as moving centre for the collection of KYCs from prospective eligible consumers of LPG.
10 such vehicles will ply in the state of Odisha.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) launched by the Prime Minister in May 2016 is a socio-economic revolution aimed towards women empowerment by providing LPG connections to women from BPL families.
It aims to safeguard the health of women and children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel-LPG so that they don’t have to compromise their health in smokey kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are making efforts to reach out to underprivileged women, informing and educating them about the benefits of using LPG connections.
In last 28 months, more than 5 crore BPL households across India have benefitted from PMUY by getting LPG connections. In Odisha 33 lakh PMUY connections have been released since its launch in Odisha.
